Once the plaster dries it's impossible to continue painting.īasically the painter has about 24 hours before the plaster dries. I'd paint for 8 hours straight then spritz the plaster panel with water and wrap it in plastic. Then go home and sleep 8 hours or so and return to spend another 5 or 6 hours on the painting.īecause I stripped the surface off the dried plaster and applied it to linen, the process, from start of painting to finish, would take about 10 -12 days. You can view a slide show of the whole process at: "Fresco" means "fresh" in Italian and refers to the state of the plaster onto which a solution of pure pigment and water is applied.
